tasting notesa brilliant, pale straw green colour. this is a classically restrained, style of marlborough sauvignon blanc. we have deliberately avoided excessive greenness preferring to show a range of sauvignon aromas resulting from staggered harvesting targeting specific ripeness levels in the fruit. the nose is ultra clean, with precise lime and grapefruit citrus characters lifting the ripe gooseberry and tropical fruit notes typical of the region and variety. further complexity is enhanced by subtle flinty notes from a small portion of barrel fermentation. the palate shows similar precision showing a linear range of flavours starting with citrus notes, building through classic gooseberry and passionfruit, to more exotic tropical elements. the structure, long, clean and persistent, with particular attention to the acid sugar balance allowing free expression of both regional and varietal characters to show. the small portion of barrel fermentation adds texture to the palate with subtle smoky notes and brings the wine to a dry finish.
cellaring potential 2 to 3 years, will develop well over the next 2 years.
