Product Description and Use
Piccolyte® C85 polyterpene resin is a pale, neutral, low molecular weight, highly stable, thermoplastic resin. Produced from d-limonen,a natural terpene of citrus origin, it is characterized by its light color, resistance to aging, and high thermal stability. It is particularly designed as a masticatory/softening agent and plasticizer in chewing gum compositions. In gum base it has similar hardness to a glycerol ester of rosin, but with the superior taste, odor, and stability characteristics of a polyterpene. Proprietary processing produces a resin low in volatiles, providing for enhanced organoleptic performance. This resin is also a highly effective tackifier for both elastomeric- and thermoplastic-based adhesive systems.
Applications
Masticatory agent in chewing gum compositions
Tackifier resin with natural and synthetic rubbers in pressure-sensitive and hot-melt adhesives
