The melting temperature of POM is 165 C, and the extrusion granulation temperature can generally be set at 175 ~ 190 C. Under the premise of ensuring full melting, the material temperature should not be too high. Because POM is a shear-sensitive polymer, when the melt temperature is above the melting point, the melt fluidity is more sensitive to the shear rate, so the shear rate can be set higher, which is conducive to the extrusion of materials. But considering the effect of shear heat at high speed, the main engine speed is usually set at 260-300 rpm. Granulation temperature: When POM is extruded by twin screw extruder, the phenomenon of holes in the center of particles often occurs. This is because POM is a crystalline polymer, its melt is often accompanied by larger volume changes when it is cooled. In the extrusion process, when the melted strip enters the cooling tank, the surface will instantly solidify into a surface cortex, while the core part is still in a melting state. With the continuous hardening of the strip from outside to inside, the shrinkage force caused by volume reduction will act on the core part which is not yet hard. The resin, which is e to an equal tension on the core, results in continuous shrinkage along the length of the core of the strip
