POM FU2025三菱POM was developed by DuPont in the late 1950s and is one of the three most common engineering plastics in the world. POM has metal hardness, strength and steel, excellent fatigue resistance, elasticity, POM also has good chemical resistance. POM has been widely used in electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, daily light industry, automobile, building materials, agriculture and other fields since its production. Because the cost of POM is lower than that of other engineering plastics, it replaces the market occupied by metals, and shows a good growth trend in new application fields, such as medical technology, sports equipment and so on.



POM has regular molecular structure, high crystallinity and high surface hardness. In the process of friction and sliding, its macromolecule is easy to be oriented and strengthened along the direction of friction, with large bond energy and high molecular cohesion energy, so POM has good wear resistance and self-lubrication performance. However, it is difficult to meet the requirements of high load, high speed, high temperature and other working conditions, so the wear resistance of POM needs to be further improved. There are two ways to improve the wear resistance of POM: one is chemical modification. Lubricating segments were introduced into POM molecular chains by means of grafting and block. The other is physical blending modification. Duracon NW-02, developed by Japan Plastics Company, is a lubricating modifier made of a lubricating polymer grafted with POM. Under the same load and sliding speed, the sliding surface temperature of Duracon NW-02 is 30%-50% lower than that of the unmodified POM.


POM has the characteristics of high hardness, wear resistance, fatigue resistance, high impact strength, good dimensional stability and self-lubrication. POM is widely used in manufacturing various sliding and rotating mechanical parts, making various gears, levers, pulleys and sprockets, especially suitable for bearings, hot water valves, precision metering valves, chain rings and rollers of conveyors, and flow. Gauge, internal and external handles, cranks and other window rotating machinery, oil pump bearing seat and impeller gas switch valve, electronic switch parts, solid, wiring column mirror mask, fan parts, heating plate, instrument button; bearing of audio and video tape; various pipelines and agricultural port sprinkler systems and valves, sprinklers, taps, taps, etc. Bath basin parts; switch keyboard, button, audio-visual tape reel; temperature control timer; power tools, garden realizing tool parts; in addition, can be used as surfboard, sailboat and various sled parts, watch micro gear, sports equipment frame accessories and backpack with various buckles, sturdy parts, lighter, zipper, buckle ring. The crystallinity of POM is high, generally up to 70%-85%. The crystalline grains are large and the notch impact strength is low. POM often breaks in brittle mode. There are two main ways to improve the impact toughness of POM: elastomer toughening and rigid particle toughening. Elastomer toughening POM is a traditional toughening method. Because of the low modulus and flexibility of rubber or thermoplastic elastomer, the shear yield and crazing of the matrix are induced as a stress concentration system in the plastic matrix, which promotes the brittle-ductile transition of the matrix and improves the toughness of the material.
