盐浴法去氧化皮可分为氧化法、电解法和还原法。氧化性熔盐处理法这种方法有用途广、操作简单的特点，所以工业上大量生产的产品如不锈钢、钛金属的圆料、棒料、线材和带材都采用这种方法处理。在二氧化锰催化剂作用下，亚硝酸钠与空气中的氧反应又转变成硝酸钠。 生成的三氧化二铁氧化皮等容易用酸蚀溶解去除。由于熔盐的预处理作用使酸蚀溶液所需浓度和温度都大为降低。而要彻底清除氧化皮，在盐浴处理之后要再进行酸洗或酸蚀处理。还原法还原法是用氢化钠去除氧化皮的方法，也是在熔碱浴中进行的。在氢氧化钠碱浴中金属钠和氢气反应生成氢化钠与浸泡在熔碱浴中的金属接触时把氧化皮中的铁、铬的氧化物还原成金属，当金属从熔碱中取出冷却时，由于锈垢与金属基体间膨胀系数的差异而使残存的氧化皮从金属表面脱落。 电解法在既无化学氧化作用又无化学还原作用的熔盐中通入直流电后，熔盐被激活而具有氧化性或还原性。电解熔盐法设备非常简单，由一个直流电源、一个换向开关、一个正极、一个以炉壁或工件为负极及一个电导介质组成。熔盐电解法主要用于去除竹简上的型砂。电解时间根据时间确定，一般在十五到三十分钟之间。
